  • 3 cups Corn meal
  • 1tbsp Parsley
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 3tbsp butter
  • salt to taste
  • 1tsp all purpose seasoning
  • 2 large fig leaves cut into small squares
  • 1tbsp red pepper 
  • pinch chill flakes
  • 1 cup black eye peas
  • 1 cup peas, carrots, corn mix
  • 1tsp garlic minced
  • 2tbsp onion diced

METHOD                                                                                       

Place corn meal, butter, salt, black pepper, pepper flakes and all purpose seasoning in a large bowl. Add water until it forms a ball. Roll into mini balls.  Sauté onion and garlic over medium heat till golden.  Add veg mix, black eye peas and season to taste and allow to cool. Grease fig leaves with oil.  Place 1 square  of fig leaf on pastille press . place corn meal ball then cover with another fig square  and press. Place a small spoon amount into the middle and fold. Cut ends with a sharp knife. Fold fig leaf over pastille  then with a piece of foil to protect when steaming. Enjoy hot
