Approximately 850 million people worldwide are now estimated to have kidney diseases from various causes.
And chronic kidney diseases are now the 6th fastest growing cause of death.
Today is World Kidney Day and while the occasion seeks to raise awareness, Guardian Media’s Jessie-May Ventour spoke out about her experience in saving her brother’s life by donating one of her kidneys.
In 2008, Ventour’s brother, Matthew was diagnosed with renal failure.
